Nuts and Oilseeds
PROBAT is a synonym for machinery and plants for processing coffee, cocoa, barley and malt. This range of products can be extended as required, e.g. by diverse nut varieties and oleiferous kernels such as hazelnuts, peanuts, almonds, cashews and macadamias. Excellent roasting results are also achieved with pistachios as well as sunflower, pumpkin, melon seeds and pine nut kernels. Soya and certain sesame varieties can be processed on PROBAT roasting plants with optimal results.
As with coffee and cocoa roasting, the roasting process serves mainly for the development of complex, pleasant aromas. These oleiferous roasted products also keep longer. The stability of the roasted nut varieties is also influenced by the type of roasting process. There are also further aspects relating to oil seeds and peanuts, e.g. biological correlations such as cultivation, location, ripeness, drying, storage and the ratio of free fatty acids (oil to linoleic acid).
In addition to the roasting technology, the heart of nut roasting, PROBAT also supplies components for raw product cleaning, blanching of peanuts and hazelnuts, granulation and – together with Bauermeister – grinders for paste manufacture.
