Big performance, small footprint: PROBAT releases innovative new GT Roll Grinder
Emmerich, Germany, November 11, 2025: PROBAT, a leading end-to-end solutions provider in the global food processing sector, has launched a new industrial coffee grinding solution that stands out thanks to its strong performance, hygienic design, and optimized footprint. The innovative GT Roll Grinder Series was unveiled for the first time at HostMilano in October.
A consistent grind size is crucial to achieving the perfect extraction level for a perfect cup of coffee. The new GT Series has been developed to reliably fulfil the key requirements of industrial coffee grinding. It consistently delivers precise, high-quality results for standard applications, making it a reliable choice for a wide range of tasks. Using specially corrugated, water-cooled rolls, coffee is gradually ground into particles ranging from filter to fine over two to three passages, achieving throughputs of up to 1,800 kg per hour in the filter range.
GT grinders feature an innovative belt drive design, whereby a single engine powers both the grinding rolls and the turbo mixer. This delivers more energy-efficient particle size reduction and simplifies maintenance. Combined with the grinder’s hygienic design, which improves accessibility and makes components easy to clean, the belt drive ensures sustainable performance and maximum uptime.
For highest operator ease, the GT grinders are equipped with inline gap adjustment technology, optimizing the grinding process based on the selected recipe. A high-torque drive ensures consistent results throughout.
"The new GT Grinder Series features active gap adjustment as standard. As soon as a deviation from the target value in the recipe occurs, the distance between the two lower rolls is automatically adjusted,” explains Dietmar Wißen, Research Engineer at PROBAT. “This reduces fluctuations in grain size distribution to a minimum while enabling consistently high throughput,” he concludes.
In terms of compactness, the new GT grinders are unbeatable. Thanks to their integrated feeding roll and space-saving single-drive design, they require minimal floor space and height, thus enhancing plant integration and allowing for greater flexibility in factory layout planning.
