HEAT EXCHANGER

There are many ways to utilize heat energy from roasting processes that would otherwise be lost. Heat exchangers are used to either heat buildings, heat water, or increase the overall roasting process efficiency by using waste heat to preheat the burner air.

All PROBAT roasting machines can be equipped with a so-called air recuperator, a specific type of heat exchanger with an energy-saving function, as it allows cold directed air to be heated with the help of hot exhaust air.

The underlying principle of the air recuperator is based on the process of counter-flow energy heat recovery: The heat transfer takes place without the media actually coming into direct contact. To this end the outgoing roasting exhaust gases and the incoming fresh air flow through separate channels so that they cannot mix. The thermal energy obtained in this way is either fed directly back into the roasting process or used for building or water heating.
